Oh... that's a problem... hehehe she can be correct though, hehehe but... unfortunately tragedy is great photography! So try to explore with her not knowing, or take her with you, but REALLY REALLY watch her, kids can be proactive!

I just saw the weather broadcast, and Ike is a very big system, so be careful with the sleeping arrangements, also try to get everything inside before winds get, as I have experience, winds can even carry you, (yeah after that time I learned that if it go forgotten outside, bye bye to it :XD:)

Trees are tricky... you have to determined the soil where it is, and how big the roots are, although if the winds are really strong it wouldn't matter anyways, oh... since I think you house may not be Hurricane proof, also try to stay away from the roof as it is of the first things to go (if it is of wood).

Try to save as much water as possible, as service can be interrupted, and you will need it, also electricity can be interrupted, so a good trick is to freeze bowls of water (so you make ice) and if the electricity fails and you don't have a generator, you place the bowls of ice in the refrigerator in strategic places and it will conserve the cold of a while, also after it melts, it is extra water, if you don't want to drink it, then spray salt over it, and it will remain colder longer.

Oh just in case, have a handy car lighter converter from AC to DC (or is it backwards) anyways a good cheap converter to charge your phone and things like that, in case of emergency!

Oh and experience speaking here... unplug unnecessary electric equipment, TVs, DVD players, etc. Power outages and power spikes can be very evil, leave only the necessities Refrigerator, maybe a TV for news, but if it doesn't need to be plugged, out with it, specially computers, they are very sensitive!

the ice idea is brilliant!!!!! you really are experienced! i'd thought of the car adaptors, but i never would have thought of the bowls of water!!! i'm on it!!! :salute:

:giggle: :thanks: hehehe thanks, thanks... sometimes having an over active mind can work out for something! :giggle:

Actually I don't even remember where I learned that trick... if I even learned it, sometimes ideas just flow from me thinking I learned them, when I just made them... I do remember seen on TV that salt on ice will make it last colder longer, but it renders the water drinkable. I just watch too Discovery, History, Science Channel... I love to learn new things, and make practice of it! :)

I know what you mean on the computer... after all, mine is sometimes on like 14 hours a day, cause I do turn it off when I go to sleep, unless I'm downloading torrents of movies, then it would be on like 24hours hehehe Thank God it's an Apple Laptop (pretty solid computer) and I do unplugged it and use like 4 hours of battery between charges, cause the electric bill will be BIG! :giggle:

I actually can't be without my electronics for much, in fact I prefer to be without water than electricity, after all water I can buy it or bring it home from another place, unlike electricity!

Oh your welcome! :aww: Hope they are not needed that much!

Well do remember that Texas is mighty big, and fixing fallen power lines can be a mighty task. Of course unless the power companies, foolishly turn off the power, like one time they did in Puerto Rico, and it took more time to get back that way. Cause this way they can't know where exactly are the problems, since there's no power going out.

Although journalism live on fear, in fact they want us to feel fear. I took a course in college of journalism and the three things they look for is Death, violence and sex. So that reporter may just be insisting fear for the sake of ratings.
